Whether you're in the early stages of planning your wedding or finalizing the last details, you've probably encountered a few bumps in the road. Your dream dress may have been a few thousand dollars past your budget or the reception site you had your heart set on is already booked for your date. These are situations brides face every day, and once the big day finally comes, they are still able to have the wedding of their dreams.
One local bride shares her experience.
Congratulations to the newlyweds LuAn & Antonio Casarez, Jr.
My wedding day was definitely a surprise for me. Sometimes things go as planned and some things don’t. I know that all too well. I knew exactly the way I envisioned my wedding day to be, but sometimes a bride like me can’t take it all on by herself. Planning my wedding might have been as stressful as getting my college degree with so much work to do and not enough time.
The morning of my big day started off slow. I gradually wake up and made last minute phone calls and packed my car with my belongings. My beautiful dress from Debi’s Bridal was ready at the front door and the hotel room was ready for check-in.
Our photographer, Alberto Vazquez of Alberto Vazquez Photography, meets us separately at the hotel to take pictures while getting dressed for the big event. My husband to be meets him first and then I do. I found this out later that the hotel room was not ready for arrival. Later to my surprise the hotel takes care of us by giving us the biggest room they have for our wedding night. It was the amazing and beautiful Presidential Suite. We couldn’t believe the room was for us. It was truly stunning!
Then, I knew that there were things that I had wanted as a bride, but it was too late the day had arrived. It was one thing, transportation for the evening. An elegant car to pick us up was out of the question. I knew not to expect any kind of fancy car to pick us up. Suddenly, I was shocked to find out that family members got together on this and made it happen. A beautiful white hummer showed up seconds after the ceremony ended and mariachis began playing outside the church. Water filled my eyes as I saw the hummer from a distance. My husband looked at me and he knew I was extremely happy.
We left the church to take some last minute pictures at the hotel. Our phones started ringing nonstop. Guests started arriving at the venue and wanted inside, but the doors did not open until 6:00 p.m. My wedding coordinator, Greg Reese, from Events by Reese had to finish setting up. It was hot outside and guests could not wait any longer to get indoors. Family members started fussing because they were burning up from the heat, but Greg handled it well and they entered the reception area at the AT&T Centre at San Fernando.
The party began as the guests seemed to be feeling much better as they cooled down. Dinner, dancing and drinking ened a very lovely evening with folklore dances and mariachis to entertain our guests. As a bride, you never know what to expect, but be ready to expect the unexpected.
