1. How did the two of you meet?
My brother-in-law happens to be Homar's cousin. Three years ago he decided to introduce us because he knew we were perfect for each other. After that night, we were inseparable.2. How did he propose?
It was Christmas Day and my entire family was opening presents at my mom's house. After everybody finished opening their gifts, Homar said he wanted to say a few words of thanks. He stood up and thanked my family for loving and accepting him. Then, he turned to me and asked him if I would make him the happiest man alive by marrying him.3. What are three characteristics that made you fall for your husband?
My husband is the most faithful, affectionate and motivated man I have ever met.
4. What was the inspiration behind the design of your wedding?
Originally, Homar and I were supposed to get married in Chapala, Jalisco. We took and winter vacation to Mexico after he proposed and we visited the city of Chapala. We came upon a beautiful hotel that would be perfect for our reception. The hotel had a beautiful patio with large trees. The most beautiful part was the peacocks that were walking around the patio. Unfortunate circumstances prevented us from further planning our wedding in Mexico, but I wanted to make sure that we could at least have a part of that beautiful experience on our wedding day. We thought the perfect compromise would be to have a a peacock theme wedding in San Antonio.
5. What was the most trying part of the planning process?
The most difficult part of the planning process was trying to collaborate church time/dates with venue time/dates.6.Did either you have a bride/groomzilla moment? Describe.
No, not really.7. What element of the wedding exceeded your expectations?
The music in the church was spectacular. As soon as the church doors opened, the organist played "Cannon in D" and my father walked me down the aisle. It was the most emotional moment in my whole life. Another special moment was when we took a river boat ride to our venue. As we rode down the river, different people on the riverwalk started cheering and congratulating us. We felt like we were on top of the world. As we arrived to our venue, all of our guest were outside on the balcony waving at us. As our boat was parked, a group of mariachis was waiting for us and they played one of our favorite songs,"Somos Novios."8. If you were a guest attending your wedding, how would you describe it?
I think most of our guests described our wedding as elegant, intimate, and well planned. Accommodations were made across the street at the Drury Plaza Hotel where guests received free breakfast, free drinks at social hour, and Riverwalk access. Many people said this was a very convenient idea. We also had guest gifts from Mexico as they checked into the hotel. At the reception we treated our guests to a 4 hour open bar with margaritas and 5 different types of beer. Appetizers were passed during social hour. Seating cards were made to make sure everyone was seated comfortably. At the tables, each guest was treated with half a dozen of boxed sugar cookies with a thank you note on them.
9. Besides marrying the love of your life, what was the most important part of the day?
The most important part of our day was when were faced each other and stated the church vows to one another. The words meant so much to both us because at that moment we understood we were not just getting married, we were making a lifelong commitment.10. What are your plans for the future?
Homar and I are currently in the process of buying a home. We would like to travel and concentrate on our careers for a short while and then start a family. We are open to whatever God has planned for us.
