Color Combination Inspiration

Looking for more color combination inspiration? Check out this great tool to help you sort through literally thousands of photos all while selecting tones you like.

Orange and yellow is a interesting combo. Is it fall or summer? Both! While driving to and from work (in mid August) I was just taken away by these beautiful bright blooms I passed every day.

While light blues and soft pinks may have you thinking of a baby shower more than a wedding, bright aquas and vibrant fuchsias make a bold statement.

Not pink? How about red? This gorgeous dress from Bella Bridesmaid paired with this rocking red shoes is reason enough.

I love the playfulness of this color combination.

If you still aren't sure what color combination is best to suit your personality and tastes check with local florists about what flowers are in season and what combination they see works best with what.

Winter Wonderland Wedding Update

Azizi and Matt's Winter Wonderland is approaching fast. Tiffini at Four Sisters Catering has been hard at work putting the final touches on the big day. The menu is a wonderful spread fit for a king and his queen with a Mediterranean influence and a magical fare. Here's a sneak peak of what the cuisine for their big day looks like.

Appetizer's
Four Sisters Feta Rolls- Sun-dried tomatoes, calamata olives, cream cheese and feta cheese rolled in walnuts
Mediterranean Grape Leaves

Mediterranean Meat Sticks-Homemade butter crust stuffed with meat and pine nuts
Shrimp Remoulade Canapes

Entrees

Beef Tenderloin-served with a shiitake mushroom wine cabernet sauce

Roasted Shallot Grilled Chicken-served with a shallot sherry wine sauce
Fresh Garden Salad-Mandarin oranges, cranberries and sugar-frosted walnuts
Rice Pilaf

Fresh Asparagus-dipped in a lemon butter sauce

These are just a few of the fabulous dishes to be served at Matt and Azizi's wedding. We can't give away too much.

Cake

The wedding cake is the bride's favorite. A scrumptious carrot cake with a homemade cream cheese icing prepared and designed by Sweet Secrets Cake Shop.

And after dinner and dancing the couple will be whisked away in a stretch limo by Elegant Limousines.

Favorite Photos Friday

While trying to think of article ideas for the 2010-2011 edition of the magazine I sat down and thought to myself, "What was most important to me during my wedding day?". And then I thought well... the location was a big deal of course. My choice had to reflect what type of event I wanted to have. Did I want it to be formal or casual? Open or intimate?

OK, well what else was important? Food was also a big deal. While many friends and family members said they were so busy they didn't even eat during their reception, I knew that was not something I wanted at all. I couldn't see myself paying so much money and not be able to relax and enjoy a good meal.

But even with those two things high on my list of priorities, nothing was more important to me than...photography, not the dress, not the flowers-nothing. With that in mind, I began my search for the perfect photographer.

It didn't take long, after visiting all the websites I could think of and narrowing it down to the five whose style I liked. I took a few of my favorite shots from each photographer (without names) and asked the then fiance which photos he liked and what he liked about them, our decision was simple after that.

I inquired with our selected photographer, talked a few times and visited during our scouting trip. He was perfect! In fact, photography was my biggest splurge. Yup, that's right. I cut
costs everywhere else. Visited eight bridal salons before deciding a dress (and asked about discontinued styles and saved 50%), visited 15 possible reception locations, talked to five florists and did A LOT of research. But deciding who would capture the moments of one of the most important days of my life was simple. :) I even enlarged some of my favorite (artistic) wedding shots and put them in our house. We always get asked..."is that you?". And we very proudly reply..."Yes, it is."

So to help you out, I decided to do a "Favorite Photos Friday" of local photographers wedding-related shots. Here are my picks of the week. Photos are arranged alphabetically.

A Real Texas Wedding: Angela Adams & Derek Howorth: October 3, 2009

1. How did the two of you meet?

Derek and I met in November 2007 on the Friday after Thanksgiving. We both were out with friends at a local lounge bar and our eyes met across the room. It was love at first sight!

2. How did he propose?
Derek proposed on New Year's day. It caught me off guard. It was a great way to start off the new year!

3. What three characteristics made you fall for your husband?

I fell for Derek's great smile; his smile is truly infectious. I soon fell for his humor and laid-back personality.

4. What was the inspiration behind the design of your wedding?
I had always wanted a colorful fall wedding. I had also seen many pictures of modern weddings which had a simple and elegant appeal.

5. What was the most trying part of the planning process?
The most trying moment of the planning was when our original church called to say they were going to start renovating the church during the month of our wedding. We fortunately found a beautiful church that we both loved.

6. Did either of you have a bride/groomzilla moment?
Thankfully, we never had a bride/groomzilla moment. We are both adept to handling stressful situations.

7. What element of the wedding exceeded your expectations?

I think the best element of our wedding was the photography. We had the best photographer. His style is very artistic and different than what you commonly see for weddings.

8. If you were a guest attending your wedding, how would you describe it?

If I was a guest at our wedding, I would describe it as a fun affair!

9. Besides marrying the love of your life, what was the most important part of the day?

The most important of the wedding besides marrying the love of my life was having all of our family and friends be a part of our special day.

10. What are you plans for the future?
We would like to enjoy our first few years together and then eventually start a family.
